Recycling at LaFayette Lanier

LaFayette Lanier students will add another phase to our recycling program. Students and teachers at LaFayette Lanier have been successfully involved in conserving energy for the last two years by turning off lights and computers when they are not needed. It is our goal to teach students to save energy which in turn helps conserve our environment. The next phase of our recycling program is to collect paper.

The idea to recycle paper came from a LaFayette Lanier parent, Mr. James Drake, father of Anna and Emily Drake. Mr. Drake recycles at his work place and thought it would be a good idea for our students to get involved also.

The paper recycling program will begin on a small scale. Classes will first collect paper from classrooms to recycle. Mr. Drake will collect the paper and take it once a month to be recycled.

Each homeroom will be responsible for having an activity that teaches students the importance of recycling at school and at home.
